Frequently asked questions

What sets this "Luxury" Tanzania Safari apart from standard safaris?

World-class accommodations and exclusive travel define our luxury package. You will stay at the prestigious Gran Melia in Arusha, the Ngorongoro Melia Lodge overlooking the crater, and at premium tented camps such as Zuri Camp in the Serengeti. You also get exclusive use of a private 4x4 safari vehicle with a dedicated, highly experienced English-speaking guide, ensuring a highly personalised pace.

What kind of vehicles are used, and do they have air conditioning?

We use exclusive, private 4x4 Land Cruisers specially outfitted for Tanzania's rugged terrain. Please note that these safari vehicles are non-air-conditioned. The pop-up roofs and windows remain open during game drives to allow you an immersive, unobstructed 360-degree view for photography and wildlife spotting.

What wildlife can we expect to see when we descend into the Ngorongoro Crater?

The Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage site and offers one of the densest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. Its enclosed ecosystem gives you an incredibly high chance of spotting the elusive Black Rhino, large prides of lions, massive elephant bulls, and thousands of flamingos around Lake Magadi.

Is the Hot Air Balloon Safari over the Serengeti included in the package?

The Hot Air Balloon Safari is an optional premium add-on (costing an additional $600 USD per person) and is not included in the base tour price. It is highly recommended! The experience includes an early morning pickup, a one-hour magical flight over the Serengeti plains at sunrise, and a spectacular bush breakfast served with sparkling wine.

How are flights and airport transfers handled for this tour?

The tour includes complimentary pick-up and drop-off exclusively from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). However, your international flights and all associated airfare taxes are not included in the package and must be booked independently.

What is the visa process for entering Tanzania?

Most international travellers require a visa to enter Tanzania. We strongly recommend applying for the Tanzania e-Visa online well in advance of your departure to avoid long queues upon arrival. The Tanzania entry visa fee is not included in your safari package cost.

Are Park entry fees and conservation fees included in the price?

Yes, absolutely. Tanzania’s park fees can be quite expensive, but our luxury package covers all National Park Fees, Concession Fees, and the special Ngorongoro Crater descent fee. There are no hidden entry charges or surprises on the ground.

What meals are provided during the luxury safari?

While in the national parks (Ngorongoro and Serengeti), you are on a Full Board meal plan, meaning breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included. To maximise your wildlife viewing time, lunches during game drives are often premium-packed picnic lunches. During your stay at the Gran Melia in Arusha, meals are on a Bed & Breakfast basis.

Are there strict luggage restrictions for Tanzania safaris?

Yes. Just like all authentic African safaris, you must pack your belongings in soft-sided duffel bags or backpacks. Hard-shell suitcases cannot be securely stacked or squeezed into the back of the 4x4 Land Cruisers. Please pack light, as premium lodges offer laundry services. . In case you are taking Bush Flights, please be aware that they have a weight limit of 15kgs SOFT LUGGAGE bag per passenger or else you pay for extra luggage.

Do I need a Yellow Fever vaccination for Tanzania?

Yes, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is strictly required if you are travelling from or have transited through a yellow fever endemic country (this includes India and neighbouring Kenya). We also strongly advise consulting your doctor for Malaria prophylaxis medication before you travel.
