Frequently asked questions

Is a Standard Safari still a "real" safari experience?

Absolutely. You'll visit the same parks, track the same wildlife, and enjoy the same game drives as any safari traveller in Kenya. The biggest difference is that we've focused on great value and comfortable accommodations rather than luxury extras.

Do I really have a chance of seeing the Big Five?

Yes. Kenya is one of the world's premier safari destinations, and this itinerary is designed to maximise your wildlife viewing opportunities. While nature never guarantees sightings, encounters with elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and countless other animals are common.

What are the accommodations actually like?

Comfortable, clean, and selected specifically for safari travellers. After spending the day exploring Kenya's incredible wildlife reserves, most guests are looking for a good meal, a hot shower, and a comfortable bed, and that's exactly what these properties provide.

Will everyone get a window seat during game drives?

Yes. Safari vehicles are designed for wildlife viewing, and every guest has excellent visibility throughout the journey. Nobody wants to hear "there's a leopard on the left" while staring at someone's backpack.

Is the Great Migration included in this itinerary?

The route visits areas where migration sightings are possible, particularly during migration season. Since the herds move according to rainfall and grazing conditions, timing can never be guaranteed, but travelling between July and October generally offers the best chances.

What happens if an elephant or lion comes close to our vehicle?

That's often the highlight of the day. Safari animals are accustomed to vehicles and generally ignore them. Your guide will ensure safe distances are maintained while giving everyone the best possible view.

I'm a vegetarian. Will I find enough food options?

Definitely. Kenya's safari industry hosts visitors from all over the world, and vegetarian meals are readily available. If you have additional dietary requirements, simply let us know before departure.

Do I need a visa for Kenya?

Most travellers require a Kenya eTA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) before arrival. The process is straightforward, and our team will help guide you through the requirements before departure.

Are there toilets during game drives?

Yes. Facilities are available at lodges, park gates, visitor centres, and designated picnic areas. Your guide will plan regular comfort stops throughout the day.

Which type of traveller usually chooses the Standard Safari?

Travellers who care more about wildlife, experiences, and value than luxury amenities. If your priority is seeing Kenya's incredible wildlife while keeping your budget sensible, the Standard Safari is an excellent choice. While there is no compromise on the wildlife experience, your stay will have fewer in-house amenities as compared to a Luxury one.
