Frequently asked questions

Do I need an International Driving Permit (IDP) to ride in Morocco, and how do police checkpoints work?

Yes. To ride legally in Morocco, you must carry your original national driving license (which must permit heavy motorcycle riding) alongside a valid International Driving Permit (IDP). Morocco is highly policed, and we will encounter routine Gendarmerie checkpoints. Our Road Captain handles all convoy documentation, but you must have your physical licenses on you at all times.

We are riding in sand (Sahara dunes) and Atlas gravel. Is prior off-road experience mandatory?

Prior off-road experience is not strictly mandatory, but you must be a highly confident street rider. The itinerary includes paved mountain twisties, gravel trails, and soft sand near the dunes. If you have never ridden in soft sand, our lead riders will conduct a basic "sand riding" briefing before we hit the desert. However, having basic dirt-riding skills will vastly increase your enjoyment.

What motorbikes are provided for this tour, and how is luggage handled?

As standard inclusion, we provide adventure motorbike such as the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 cc, perfectly suited for Morocco’s mixed terrain. You ride completely luggage-free. Our dedicated support truck carries all your main luggage, spare parts, and tools from hotel to hotel. You only need to ride with a hydration pack or a small tail bag for your daily essentials.

How do we handle the extreme heat of the desert and cold mountain nights? What should I pack?

Morocco experiences massive temperature swings. During the day in the flatlands, it can be hot and dry, while nights in the Sahara and the High Atlas Mountains can drop to near-freezing.

What to wear: Pack in layers. A ventilated mesh adventure-riding jacket with a removable windproof/waterproof liner is ideal. Bring thermal base layers for the evenings and a good pair of sunglasses/dust goggles.

What is the accommodation like in the Sahara Desert? Will we have hot water?

We balance rugged adventure with premium comfort. In major cities and towns, we stay in hand-picked, authentic Moroccan Riads (traditional houses with interior courtyards) or comfortable 4-star hotels. In the Sahara Desert, we stay in premium, semi-luxury desert glamping camps (bivouacs). These tents are windproof, carpeted, feature proper beds, and have attached bathrooms with running hot water.

Is Morocco safe for solo riders and female travellers, and are there specific dress codes?

Morocco is an incredibly welcoming and safe country for international tourists. Solo and female travellers will feel completely comfortable in our guided convoy. When riding, standard protective gear is expected. During sightseeing stops in conservative rural villages, we recommend keeping shoulders and knees covered out of respect for the local Islamic culture.

Are medical facilities easily accessible in the remote desert zones?

Our support vehicle is stocked with a comprehensive medical kit and is accompanied by staff trained in first aid. While remote desert stretches are far from major city hospitals, Morocco has local clinics in almost every town. For extreme emergencies, we have robust evacuation protocols linked to your mandatory international travel and medical insurance.

Do I need a tourist visa for Morocco, and how does currency work?

Many nationalities (including EU, US, UK, and Australian citizens) enjoy visa-free entry to Morocco for up to 90 days. Other nationalities, including Indian citizens, can easily apply for an e-visa online. The local currency is the Moroccan Dirham (MAD). Cash is highly preferred in rural areas and souks. We will arrange a currency exchange stop on Day 1.

What happens if I drop and damage the rental bike on an off-road trail?

We hold a refundable security deposit at the start of the trip. Minor wear-and-tear, scratches, or cosmetic drops in soft sand are expected and not charged. However, major structural damages (such as bent handlebars, cracked engine casings, broken clutch levers, or bent rims) caused by reckless riding or hard crashes will be charged at actual spare-part costs and deducted from your deposit.

What is the local food like, and how do we avoid getting a stomach bug?

Moroccan cuisine is highly hygienic and incredibly delicious - famous for slow-cooked clay-pot Tagines (chicken, beef, or lamb with vegetables), fresh couscous, and mint tea. To prevent stomach issues, we eat only at vetted, clean restaurants and highly-rated hotels. Drinking tap water is strictly avoided; we provide unlimited bottled mineral water throughout the journey.
