Frequently asked questions

What does a "standard" safari mean in terms of comfort and style?

Our standard safaris are designed to be the "sweet spot" of African travel—balancing excellent quality and value. Instead of sleeping on sleeping mats in basic public campgrounds, you will stay in comfortable, mid-range lodges or permanent tented camps. These feature large canvas tents set on raised wooden platforms with proper beds, fine linens, en-suite bathrooms, flush toilets, and hot running showers. It is classic "glamping" elevated to a serious wildlife experience.

Which parks will we explore on this 6-day itinerary?

This comprehensive itinerary takes you through the absolute highlights of Tanzania's famed Northern Safari Circuit, traverses the legendary endless plains of the Serengeti, and descends into the wildlife-rich Ngorongoro Crater.

Do we stay inside the national parks, or on the outskirts?

To maximise your time with the animals, our standard properties are hand-selected for their excellent locations - many situated directly inside the national parks or on strategic boundaries. Waking up in prime wildlife zones means you spend less time commuting and more time watching spectacular wildlife right outside your door, rather than driving an hour just to reach the park gates.

What kind of vehicles are used, and will I have to share?

We utilize fully equipped, robust 4x4 Safari Land Cruisers designed to handle the rugged, unpaved terrain smoothly. These vehicles are customised with large windows, spacious seating, and a pop-up roof hatch that opens up for unobstructed, 360-degree views of the wildlife and panoramic landscape photography.

How are meals handled at the standard tier?

Your safari is fully catered on a full-board basis. You will enjoy hot, varied breakfasts at your lodge, structured picnic lunches at designated scenic spots in the heart of the national parks during full-day game drives, and wonderful, multi-course dinners prepared by the lodge chefs each evening. If you have dietary preferences (vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free), our teams happily accommodate them.

Will I see less wildlife on a standard safari compared to a luxury one?

Not at all. The wildlife of Tanzania is entirely wild, free-roaming, and does not discriminate based on budget! You will explore the exact same legendary national parks and major game-viewing tracks. Because we use highly experienced, professional local guides who know how to track behaviour and communicate with other scouts, you stand an exceptional chance of spotting the "Big Five" and witnessing predator action.

How long are the drive times between the parks?

Tanzania’s wild expanses are immense. For example, driving from Arusha to the central Serengeti takes roughly 6 hours. To ensure you remain comfortable, we space out the journey beautifully, breaking up longer drives with game viewing along the way, scenic picnic stops, and visits to interesting historical sites like the Olduvai Gorge.

What exactly is included in the package price?

We believe in straightforward, upfront pricing with no hidden fees on the ground. The standard package includes all national park entry fees, concession fees, and Ngorongoro Crater descent permits. It also covers full-board accommodations, your private 4x4 Land Cruiser with a professional driver-guide, airport transfers, and unlimited drinking water in the vehicle.

What additional expenses should I plan for?

You will only need to budget for your international flights to Kilimanjaro (JRO), your Tanzanian tourist visa, travel insurance, tips for your driver-guide and lodge staff, and personal expenses such as souvenirs or premium bar drinks.

Is this standard safari suitable for families and first-time travellers?

Absolutely. In fact, this is the ideal introduction to East Africa. The balance of comfortable beds, private washrooms, and safe, professional operations ensures that children, multi-generational families, and first-time safari-goers can fully immerse themselves in the adventure without any of the stress of "roughing it".
