Frequently asked questions

Is this a continuous bike ride from Delhi, or do we take a bus first?

The bike ride starts in Kullu/Manali. To save you from the exhausting highway traffic and summer heat, we provide pre-booked luxury, semi-sleeper Volvo tickets for the overnight journey from Delhi to Manali, and back. Your motorcycle adventure officially kicks off in the mountains on Day 3.

I want to bring my own bike (BYOB). Are there any specific requirements?

Yes, you are welcome to bring your own bike. We highly recommend adventure tourers or offroad with an engine capacity of at least 350cc (e.g., Royal Enfield, Himalayan, KTM). Your bike must be fully serviced beforehand with dual-purpose tyres, as Spiti's terrain is heavily off-road.

What happens if we encounter heavy water crossings (nallahs) and my bike gets stuck?

Spiti is famous for its notorious water crossings, especially near Chicham and Chandratal. Our experienced Road Captain will guide you on the best line to cross. If you get stuck or drop the bike, our backup crew and mechanic are immediately on hand to help pull the bike out and check the engine.

My partner wants to join as a pillion. Is the Spiti circuit comfortable for pillion riders?

While pillion riding is allowed, please note that the Spiti circuit involves rocky, unpaved roads and bumpy terrains for long hours. Pillion riders need good physical endurance and a strong back. If they get tired, they always have the option to sit in the backup SUV/Tempo Traveller for parts of the journey.

How does the luggage system work?

Can I bring a hard-shell suitcase? Hard-shell suitcases are strictly not allowed as they don't fit well in the backup vehicle. You are restricted to one 60-litre rucksack or duffel bag per person. You ride completely luggage-free; our backup vehicle safely transports your bags from hotel to hotel.

I noticed a ₹10,000 security deposit for rental bikes. How and when is this refunded?

The deposit is collected before the ride begins to cover any accidental damages caused by the rider (like broken levers, mirrors, or bent rims from a fall). If the bike is returned safely to the drop point in Manali without user-inflicted damage, the deposit is refunded to you immediately at the end of the trip.

We are staying in camps at Chandratal. Are there attached washrooms, and how cold does it get?

Yes, our Swiss Camps at Chandratal come with attached washrooms for your convenience. However, because Chandratal is at 14,100 ft, night temperatures can drop near freezing, even in summer. We provide heavy blankets, but carrying thermal innerwear is a must.

Are fuel and mechanic costs covered if the bike breaks down?

Fuel is completely covered for the itinerary route if you are using our rental bikes. The mechanic's labour for any roadside repairs is also free. However, if a spare part needs to be replaced due to a crash or mishandling by the rider, the cost of that spare part will be deducted from your deposit.

Is a 350cc Royal Enfield enough for Spiti, or should I upgrade?

A well-tuned 350cc Royal Enfield is perfectly capable of doing the Spiti circuit and is the standard bike provided. However, if you prefer better ground clearance, modern suspension, and more power for the off-road patches, we highly recommend purchasing the 450cc Himalayan upgrade during checkout.

What kind of medical support is available for Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)?

We follow a gradual ascent route starting from Kullu to aid acclimatisation. Our Road Captain carries a comprehensive first-aid kit and emergency oxygen cylinders in the backup vehicle. If someone suffers severe AMS, they will be shifted to the backup vehicle immediately and transported to a lower altitude.
